Our Rooms

Ages 0-2 "Koalas"
“Babies thrive when they experience warm, responsive care – it’s through these relationships that they begin to feel safe, explore their world, and connect with others.” Centre on the Developing Child, Harvard University
At LCCC we are committed to making this transition as reassuring as possible for your family. We do this, first and foremost, by building warm and secure attachments between the child and their educators. These relationships are the firm foundation for all their learning experiences.
Our educators are warm, experienced and passionate about early childhood education and care. They are available to meet with you prior to enrolment, and to help you feel at home in our koalas room. They understand that babies learn best when they feel safe and supported with the room and daily activities designed to nurture your baby’s development and support their individual needs. Throughout the day, your baby will:
- Explore and discover through gentle, sensory-rich play
- Develop their early language and communication skills
- Express their emotions in a safe, responsive environment
- Engage with the world at their own pace, with encouragement and care.
Ages 2-3 "Joeys"
Toddlers are on the move, in every sense. They are charging through life discovering their abilities, their emotions and their voice as well as the world and the people around them. Starting in early education and care is a big transition for families and we strive to provide a safe, nurturing and engaging environment to support you and your child at this important stage of their growth and development. We provide a flexible settling-in process with orientation visits and getting-to-know-you chats with our educators. Daily communication and photos shared securely via Storypark and ongoing communication with your child’s educators, to keep you in the loop.
The educators in our Joey room understand that toddlers are full of energy, ideas, curiosity and big emotions. We respond to these with a programme of individual care and enrichment, offering warm and meaningful interactions throughout the day and a flexible and reassuring routine supporting children through meals, play, rest and toileting.
Following the Early Years Learning Framework, our programme is a combination of play-based exploration and activities inspired by the children’s own interests and developmental stages with a balance of intentional teaching opportunities. This allows each day to be filled with opportunities for the children to develop:
- Language: building their vocabulary, expressing needs and emotions, understanding others
- Social skills: playing alongside others, enjoying meals together, interacting with other children and educators
- Independence: through a flexible routine and at their own pace
- Creative and thinking skills: pretend play, sorting, building and problem solving, art, music, games, and movement.
Ages 3-5 "Wombats & Possums"
At LCCC we are committed to collaborating with families, ensuring children feel supported and seen. We aim to guide them to be actively engaged and excited about learning. We do so by offering:
- Qualified, experienced and passionate educators
- A beautiful, light-filled indoor environment and an expansive, exciting outdoor area
- A programme that responds to the children’s individual interests and development
- Ongoing communication with families via the Storypark app and in-person updates
- Engagement with our wider community via special events, educational performances and excursions.
With the Early Years Learning Framework as a foundational tool, our educators provide a child-centred, play-based programme which integrates all learning areas including Creative Arts, Numeracy, Literacy, Science and Nature, Sport and Physical activities, Technology, Australian Culture and Diversity and Community Involvement.
We aim to nurture their development and support them in developing independence and confidence, approaching new experiences with curiosity and enthusiasm, working in small and larger groups, developing friendships and communicating with others, problem solving, creative thinking, and a love of learning!
Our preschool room creates a support environment. Through a supportive environment, with lots of choices, the children are provided with the opportunity to explore, experiment, question and discover new concepts about the world.
Whilst we love doing lots of intentional experiences with the children it is the these moments, where they are playing independently, that really shapes their knowledge, skills and confidence, and prepares them for a lifetime of learning both in school and beyond.
There is a saying by Maria Montessori that says "Play is the work of the child". It improves the cognitive, physical, social and emotional well-being of children. They are learning how to learn and most importantly developing a love for it!
Learning might look a little different in an early childhood setting but it is certainly always fun!
Developing curious, capable, and connected learners.
